What are Benzofuran compounds?
Benzofuran compounds are related to the family of controlled drugs which includes ecstasy. These compounds are most commonly sold in the legal high brand name Benzo Fury. They are not legal and are controlled under the Misuse of Drugs act. They come in a powder, pill or capsule form, and as such can be snorted, swallowed, or 'bombed'. The effects can take between 45minutes to an hour to kick in, and last up to 10 hours.
What do Benzofuran compounds do?
How it can make you feel: Feelings of overwhelming euphoria and surges of energy are reported alongside intensity of music and colours and euphoria related to this. Whilst the effects can last up to 10 hours, the associated comedown from these drugs may last a number of days with feelings of tiredness and low mood.
The risks: Using benzofuran compounds can raise the body's temperature and lead to overheating. It can also lead to anxiety and panic attacks. Anxiety, aggression, confused states and paranoia are also reported. Long term use can lead to cardiac poisoning and risk of heart damage. There is also risk of overdose and death.
